Where does the gloomy complexion come from?

Several factors influence complexion. At Laboté, our priority is understanding the cause of a dull complexion for each of you. This is always explained physiologically and is often quite complex. Therefore, it's essential to take the time to analyze the situation in order to then provide the right skincare solutions and formulas.

  • A dull complexion can be caused by poor microcirculation: beneath the skin, we have countless tiny blood vessels that deliver oxygen to our cells. This allows them to interact properly and gives our skin a radiant glow. Poor microcirculation can be caused by pollution or smoking: the blood becomes laden with carbon dioxide, resulting in a dull complexion.

  • A lack of light and UV exposure can also explain a dull complexion: the sun's UV rays help the skin produce melanin, which gives it a healthy glow. This is why we generally look less healthy in winter than in warmer weather.

  • Another factor is stress. It has been described that when we are very stressed, vasoconstriction can occur. This is a slight narrowing of our blood vessels. This slows the blood flow to the micro-vessels in the skin and results in a dull complexion.

These 3 causes are those most often identified at the level of microcirculation.

Finally, another very important factor for a radiant complexion is skin hydration. It promotes cellular exchange for a healthy skin balance. Therefore, dehydrated skin will always be less luminous than well-hydrated skin.

How to get a radiant complexion?

A radiant complexion is the result of proper cleansing and skincare that specifically targets the causes of dullness.

It's essential to properly detoxify your skin in the evening to rid it of all the particles that accumulate on the surface and can dull your complexion. This requires a gentle and thorough cleansing routine. At Laboté, we've created the Cleansing Oil, which gently cleanses the skin while respecting your skin's microbiome.

The most important role of cream is to hydrate your skin and boost microcirculation. At Laboté, we achieve this with our medicinal plants: Ginkgo Biloba and Calendula, which act on microcirculation, and Aloe Vera, which perfectly hydrates the skin. It's also possible to protect your skin against pollution with powerful antioxidants that help block its harmful effects.

In addition, scrubs or peels are also suitable for brightening the complexion. At Laboté, we prefer peels, and that's what we recommend to our clients: using our exfoliating powder peel allows the skin to renew itself more easily, removing dead cells accumulated on the surface to make way for new cells.

There are several types of scrubs. Classic mechanical scrubs with granules require rubbing to remove dead skin cells. At Laboté, we recommend them for the body, but they aren't the most effective for the face and are generally too abrasive.

You can also find enzymatic scrubs containing ingredients like bromelain or papain. At Laboté, we use these ingredients in our Radiance Mask , which is applied once a week and is composed of pink clay and bromelain. This helps boost radiance through cell renewal.

Peeling is beneficial for all skin types; the key is to use the right concentration of acids to avoid damaging the skin. There are several types of peels: those performed by a dermatologist, glycolic acid or salicylic acid peels, and hydroxy acid peels. We advise against the latter for sensitive skin, as it's difficult to predict how the skin will react to such an ingredient.

How to reduce under-eye bags?

Once again, in order to effectively reduce under-eye bags, it is necessary to look at their origin.

  • They may be linked to skin laxity. In this case, anti-aging ingredients should be preferred.
  • They can also be linked to a buildup of lipids due to unsuitable skincare. When the product applied to the eye contour is too oily, it creates puffiness.
  • Finally, it can also be due to poor lymphatic circulation. In this case, active ingredients capable of draining and boosting microcirculation are needed.

In each case, the problem is very specific. It is therefore essential to opt for a targeted treatment. At Laboté, our bespoke approach allows us to create a perfectly tailored treatment that addresses each identified cause.
