Who are our recommendations for addressing imperfections aimed at? What do we mean by imperfections?

Our anti-blemish tips are effective and useful if your skin has:

  • shine
  • enlarged pores
  • blackheads (open comedones)
  • microcysts (closed comedones)
  • or acne (papules, pustules)

The cause of these minor skin irritations is generally the same: an excessive secretion of sebum, which encourages bacterial growth (particularly of Propionibacterium acnes, the bacteria responsible for acne) when it becomes trapped in the excretory ducts due to a thickening of the epidermis. Once inflammation sets in, scarring can occur.

A routine tailored to your skin type

Naturally, our first piece of advice concerns your skincare routine! A good anti-blemish routine should regulate sebum production to help your skin regain its balance. At the same time, it will also target existing blemishes to accelerate their disappearance.

At Laboté, we know that all skin types have different needs. By taking into account your skin type and its specific characteristics, we can recommend a truly suitable anti-blemish treatment.

Anti-blemish habits to adopt immediately

THE MORNING

Don't cleanse your skin, as this can stimulate sebum production. If you cleanse your skin properly in the evening, it won't need to be cleansed again in the morning. Simply spray a toner (preferably rosemary or mallow) to refresh your skin. This way, you avoid unnecessarily stimulating sebum production by stripping your skin.

Then apply treatments packed with purifying active ingredients (zinc, wild pansy, etc.) and free of any comedogenic ingredients: fatty alcohols (cetearyl alcohol), certain silicones (cyclomethicone, cyclohexasiloxane, dimethicone), lanolin, mineral oils (petrolatum, paraffinum liquidum), sulfated vegetable oils, wheat germ oil, apricot oil.

THE EVENING

Adopt the double cleansing and gentle exfoliation protocol. Gentle cleansing refers to oil- based cleansing that emulsifies upon contact with water.

Exfoliation should be done twice a week (no more, no less) to refine the skin and prevent sebum retention, which can quickly lead to breakouts. To properly exfoliate your skin, use a peel , not a scrub. More effective and less irritating, peels can be formulated with various types of ingredients:

  • AHAs: natural alpha hydroxy acids, effective but should absolutely not be used on sensitive skin.

  • Enzymes: often natural, they have a gentle exfoliating power.

In the evening, on areas affected by blemishes, whether emerging or established, apply a targeted aromatherapy treatment, concentrated with Tea tree and Lavender, for example, two of the four key essential oils in our miraculous roll-on.

THE WEEKEND

Your weekly effectiveness boosters: incredible masks. Often overlooked in routines, masks are nevertheless highly effective treatments for precisely and efficiently targeting imperfections. Ultra-concentrated, they only need to be applied for a few minutes and have an immediate, visible effect.

Natural ingredients to prioritize in your anti-blemish routine

To choose the right skincare products, learn to identify ingredients that are effective against blemishes, as they have already proven their worth in an anti-blemish routine. Make sure you find them in your daily skincare by opting for a customized cosmetic formulation that truly meets your skin's biological needs.

VEGETABLE OILS

Present in your cleansing oil or in the oil phase of your creams, plant oils act as excipients. In other words, they carry the key active ingredients of your skincare product into your epidermis. They also help to rebalance your sebum production.

  • Jojoba
  • Nigella

ESSENTIAL OILS

Essential oils are particularly powerful natural ingredients included in small doses in your cosmetics. They contain hundreds of aromatic molecules that target specific skin concerns, while also stimulating cell regeneration.

  • Tea tree
  • Lavender officinalis
  • bitter orange grain

HYDROSOLS

Hydrosols are ideal for completing skin cleansing and removing traces of hard water. Less concentrated than essential oils, they are very gentle and add extra activity to your emulsions.

  • Rosemary
  • Witch hazel
  • Damask rose
  • Mauve

EXCERPTS

Along with essential oils, plant extracts form the core of a cosmetic formulation's effectiveness. Their synergistic effects are at the root of the main properties of your skincare products (soothing, antioxidant, softening, etc.).

Eating well and staying hydrated is essential!

Remember that beauty starts from within. For your anti-blemish routine to be effective in the long term, it must incorporate a holistic approach. This means not just focusing on cosmetics but also on your lifestyle and eating habits. Indeed, acne and diet are often closely linked. Therefore, a balanced diet is undoubtedly the best anti-blemish treatment you can offer your skin.

  • Drink 1.5 to 2 liters of water per day. It's the water you drink that hydrates your skin by diffusing into its different layers. Your beauty products, on the other hand, are primarily there to limit water loss through evaporation.

  • Give pride of place to foods rich in omega-3, known to prevent inflammation.

  • Incorporate zinc to combat minor imperfections and refine skin texture.

  • Finally, regularly eliminate toxins that disrupt the proper functioning of your liver with cleansing and diuretic foods.
